Spice up your Word documents with Page Borders

Developing a one-page document to put up on a notice board? Want to spice it up and make it more interesting and fun? Then use Page Borders.

In Word 2007:
- Page Layout tab, Page Background group, Page Borders button
- Select options for the Style, Colour, Width and Art as needed
- Click on OK

In Word 2003:
- Format menu, Borders and Shading
- Select the Page Border tab
- Select options for the Style, Colour, Width and Art as needed
- Click on OK

Notes:

  • For the fun borders, have a look at the options on the Art drop-down list.
  • The border you select will be applied to all four sides of the page. In the Borders and Shading dialog box, use the buttons in the preview area to remove (or apply) the border from one or more sides.
  • If the border you select is coloured, you cannot change the colour. You can only change the colour of borders that start off black. So on the Art drop-down list, you can only have red cherries and green Christmas trees.
  • By default, page borders will be applied to the whole document. In the Borders and Shading dialog box, in the Apply to: drop-down list, choose This section - First page only to only apply the border to the cover page of a report or handout.
