Increasing the size of the Open and Save As dialog boxes

Microsoft Office was originally developed in the era of 14" CRT monitors and all dialog boxes in the various programs were designed for this environment.

With 19" monitors now the standard, recent versions of Office let you increase the size of the Open and Save As dialog boxes to take advantage of the additional real estate you have available.

If your folders often have large numbers of files, a larger dialog box will let you see more files at once and reduce the amount of scrolling when you are looking for a file or folder.

To truly take advantage of your large monitor, consider moving the dialog box to the top left of the screen before increasing its size.

To increase the size of the Open and Save As dialog boxes in Word, Excel and PowerPoint, move your mouse pointer to the bottom right hand corner of the dialog box.  When the pointer changes to a double-headed arrow, drag down and to the right.

You will need to do this for both dialog boxes in Word, Excel & PowerPoint but you only need to change each dialog box once as windows remembers the size.
