Creating a PowerPoint Photo Album

If you create PowerPoint presentations that contain pictures, this week's tip will be useful.  Rather than inserting the pictures individually, you can use PowerPoint's Photo Album feature to insert them all at once.  Photo Album lets you quickly put the selected photos onto slides with your choice of 1, 2 or 4 pictures per slide.

To insert a Photo Album in PowerPoint 2003:
 - Insert menu, Picture, New Photo Album

To insert a Photo Album in PowerPoint 2007:
 - Insert Tab, Illustrations group, Photo Album, New Photo Album

In the Photo Album dialog box, use the File/Disk button to navigate to the folder containing the pictures you want to use.  Use Ctrl to select the pictures you want or Ctrl+A to select them all.  Repeat as needed to include pictures from different folders.

Use the Up and Down arrows below the list of pictures to reorder them as needed. This will be important if you are putting more than one picture on a slide.

Under Album Layout, select the number of pictures per slide and optionally a frame for each picture.

When you are finished, click on the Create button.

Photo Album would be useful if you were using pictures on a number of different slides throughout your presentation as you could insert them all at once and then move the slides to their correct location in the presentation.
