Using Thumbnails in Word
If you work with large Word documents, this week’s tip may be useful. Word has a Thumbnails view that displays each page as a small picture in a pane on the left of the screen.
If your document contains graphics, such as pictures or tables, Thumbnails can make it easy to locate a specific graphic as it is quicker to scroll through the thumbnails than it is to scroll through the document.
Thumbnails were introduced in Word 2003 so are not available in earlier versions.
To turn on Thumbnails (Word 2007):
- View tab, Show/Hide grouping, click on the Thumbnails checkbox
To turn on Thumbnails (Word 2003):
- View menu, Thumbnails
To resize the Thumbnails pane:
- Drag the right edge of the pane
To turn off Thumbnails:
- Double-click on the right edge of the pane
Note that as you increase the size of the pane two or more thumbnails will be shown next to each other.
Any questions, please let me know.
