Keyboard shortcut for Show/Hide in Word

As you may have discovered, you can display non-printing characters (spaces, tabs, paragraph marks) in Word by clicking on the Show/Hide button.

The button has a back-to-front P on it and in Word 2003 it is about two-thirds of the way along the Standard toolbar.  In Word 2007 it's in the middle of the Home tab.

If you want to turn Show/Hide on or off you can use a keyboard shortcut instead of the mouse: Ctrl+*.

This is the * over the 8 key on the keyboard so in fact you will need to press Ctrl+Shift+*.  You cannot use the * on the numeric keypad.
