You are likely familiar with Excel\u2019s Merge & Center command which is a great way to centre a heading across the width of the spreadsheet.<\/p>\n

Yet, as you have probably discovered, if you have several lines of heading and try to Merge and Center them all at once, it turns all the selected cells into one large cell and only keeps the text in the first row.<\/p>\n

Rather than using Merge & Center on each row, use the Merge Across command as it will merge several rows at once, keeping each row.<\/p>\n

To merge and center several rows of headings at once:<\/p>\n

  1. Select the cells with text and as many columns as you need to<\/li>\n
  2. Click on the drop down arrow next to the Merge & Center button

  3. Select Merge Across<\/li>\n
  4. Click on the Center button<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \nMerge Across doesn\u2019t center the text across the merged cells so you\u2019ll need to do that yourself.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
