As a follow-on to last week’s tip on creating a hyperlink to a web page, this week we are going to look at creating a hyperlink to another location in the document.<\/p>\n
To hyperlink to a location in the same document, press Ctrl+K then select Place in This Document in the Link to: panel on the left of the dialog box.<\/p>\n
So what can you hyperlink to?\u00a0 It varies by application:
\nIn Excel:
\n–\u00a0A worksheet name
\n–\u00a0A named range<\/p>\n
In Word:
\n–\u00a0A heading
\n–\u00a0A bookmark<\/p>\n
In PowerPoint:
\n–\u00a0First, last, next or previous slide
\n–\u00a0A specific slide
\n–\u00a0A custom show<\/p>\n
Where might you use hyperlinks in a document?\u00a0 If you had a very large spreadsheet, hyperlinks would make it easy to go to specific locations in the spreadsheet..<\/p>\n
First, create names for key cells at locations in the worksheet that you frequently access.\u00a0 Then create hyperlinks (maybe on another worksheet) that go to the these named cells.\u00a0 You could think of it as creating a Table of Contents for the large worksheet.\u00a0 If the worksheet with hyperlinks is immediately before the worksheet with data, you could use Ctrl+Page Up to get back the worksheet containing hyperlinks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
