How to Pin and Mute browser tabs

Web browsers have a couple of handy features that you may not have run across.

Pin a tab.  I have a few sites that I always open whenever I open my browser.  I used to have them on the Favorites bar and every time I opened the browser I’d open new tabs and then use the favorites buttons to open each website on a tab.  I seldom close my browser so it wasn’t too bad a process.

Pinning a tab is even better.  Now when I open my browser the four pinned tabs automatically load and I don’t need to do anything.

So how do you pin a tab?  Just right-click on the tab and select Pin tab.  Right-click and select Unpin tab to reverse the process.

Mute site.  Many websites have videos that play automatically and this can be annoying as with lots of tabs open it can be a cacophony.  You’ll know which tab is producing sound as it will have a speaker icon on the tab.  In some browsers you can just click on the speaker icon to mute the web site.  Try this in your browser to see if it works.  If not, right-click on the tab and select Mute Site.

Click on the icon to unmute the web site or right-click and select Unmute Site

Pin and Mute are available in Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge.
